Round Table 2003
July 29, 2003

Although long/short investing has been in the US since 1949, it has only recently become a hot topic with consultants and trustees in Australia. Some see it as the best way to build extra return into a portfolio. Long/short can make absolute return investing a viable alternative to equities and a legitimate competitor with bonds. The current poor return climate has been the reason behind its emergence but does long/short investing have on-going relevance?. Despite the attractions of long/short investing do capacity constraints on the short side limit its application?
This Roundtable focused on the concepts and implementation issues of long/short investing with input from a panel of leading industry professionals.
